Our charming Chilean,
Egon Luengo, led the Five Seasons' Wong team to victory over Fox Creek on Saturday afternoon. Egon's opponent shook his head as he watched Egon's shots hit the lines and power past him. A straight set victory for "El Conquistador" on court 2 singles. Meanwhile on court one
Johnny "Brush" Alfes showed signs of brilliance with beautifully executed forehands and backhands against a young college age player. Despite being down in the first set John rallied to win it 7 -5, but then went "walk-about" in the second set. It took a third set match breaker for John to claim the win. The first doubles team of
Ron Farnham and
Mark Shepard lost a tight match 7-5 7-5. The second doubles team of
Tony D'Avino and
John Wong also lost. The last team to go on was that of
Gordon Frye and
Frank Mucklo. They had no idea that the match was on their shoulders as the singles matches were continuing. They won the first set but the other team came back strong and took the second set. In the match tiebreaker Gordon and Frank kept cool and executed their shots while the Fox Creek team's nerves got the best of them. Gordon served for the match and forced an error to claim the match and team victory.
