Survey Results....Leaked

In other news,a "stress free" Captain Dick returned to solid ground to lead the team to a 3-2 victory over a strong Northridge team. While Lars and Steve Hoelzer struggled at singles, doubles ruled with Joe Pare and Mack Thomas coasting 3 and 1 at second. Wally Mueller and Steve Poe prevailed 12-10 in a hard-fought third set "Coman" tiebreaker at first dubs. Then, with the "IT" Girls of Summer looking on, Rick and Dick went toe to toe against a strong third doubles team and clinched the victory in 7-6, 7-6 fashion. Next up for the good guys, Five Seasons away, 6PM on May 24.

ROAD TRIP...to North Ridge

Spotlight on Laurie and Richelle...YOU LOOK MARVELOUS!!! After tennis socialization... The "IT" Girls of Summer had the brooms out last night (no, we didn't ride in on them...though that is a possibility I'll keep open!) with a clean sweep over North Ridge 3 ( 5-0). Sweeping up on singles were Diane and Gunilla, on doubles were Richelle and Nancy, Laura and Midge, and Laurie and Lynne. Way to GO GIRLS! It was also great to see the familiar faces of Lancaster's River Oaks team, who also posted the W. Are we on the same route?...you know, the road to playoffs? The turnout in support of our team was FANTASTIC. Thanks to everyone! It is greatly appreciated...such team spirit! The cheering for our team was deafening...or was that for the CAVS? Oh well, either way, we liked it. As always, when the tennis is complete, the partying continues. We had it all: Miller Lite, Corona, Margaritas, Wine, Red Bull & Vodka, etc... No one can say we don't know how to road trip! Week 2 Motto: WORK HARD, PLAY HARD (from our team profile archives, guess who?) Next up: home vs. North Ridge 2...load up the big guns and lets rock the house we live in!

Oaks Seniors Slide to Victory at Washington Court

With Captain Lancaster back at the helm, the River Oak's 3.5 seniors went to the ice-slick courts of Medina's Washington Court and skated to a 2-1 win. Hansar and Rickard played two "unorthadox" players on three, a very heated match with some interesting line calls. Pare and Lancaster paired once again and played like years of yore bringing home the bacon on 2. Clark and Mucklo lost in a match tie-breaker on court one.

Gallo's 3.5 Begins With An Ace!

OK. Here's how it went our first week out of the blocks: First Singles got on first about 9:10 pm. Jeff Roberts, playing his first year with the team was pushed into the 1st singles position after signing his contract to play 2nd Singles and doubles. Jeff at the last moment had to fill in at first singles due to a personal commitment conflict by our normally assigned player. Jeff started out strong since he knew and had played against his opponent, the tattooed Hardcore agent, Neil Sheehan. Jeff came away with a strong win of 6-1, 6-1. "At 2nd Singles Craig Simmons playing in his first USTA match ever, had a very decisive victory over his opponent, 6-1,6-0. He better had played well since his wife, Stephanie, was there tracking his games stroke by stroke. I'm sure she had some areas of improvement mapped out for him since John Wong and Craig Hall were looking over shoulder critiquing Craig's playing. But from what I saw, Craig played a great first USTA match. Congratulations Craig! "At 1st Doubles, Mike Voll (The Traveling Entrepreneur) and Mark Flash (The Cleveland Clinic Foundation guy who is going to bring $1.26B to the table) smothered their opponents by a score of 6-1,6-4. (How could you give up 4 games in one set, guys?). The Twins (Mike Cash and Mike Bornhorst) playing 2nd Doubles kept their winning ways with a stunning defeat over their opponents 6-1 and 6-2. And last but not least on Court #1 playing 3rd Doubles, Debonair Dennis Gresh (The Ladies Man: while playing there were at least three "hoodie" ladies who had played in the previous match watching Dennis and asking John Wong and myself who he was and wanting an intro. Of course it was John and I who were buying these same ladies drinks after the match. and Steady Steve Lorton (who is playing for the first time on our team and will probably be giving us all pointers on the game of tennis before the season is over....wow, what a steady player Steve is while on court!) finished "mopping up" the court with a 6-1,6-1 win, thus giving our Five Seasons #1 team a 5-0 win over River Oaks #1 team."
